Newsletter for September 6th-9th

We hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! We are excited to begin another week!
  • Magazine orders must be submitted on Wednesdays, August 31-September 21 for your child to receive their prizes on Friday.
  • Thank you for sending in the clear 2 liter bottles. We collected what was needed and will be able to begin our new ecosystem unit this week. 
  • Students and parents, please remember to check each teacher's individual link above for information on subject content being covered, homework due dates, and test dates.  Homework due dates are very IMPORTANT! Please encourage your student to complete their homework and turn it in.
  • MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD HAS their CHARGED CHROMEBOOKS at school every day.

Camp McDowell Parent Information Meeting : Tuesday, September 13 at 6:00 PM
Explorers Camp McDowell dates: Depart on Wednesday, September 21st  Return on Friday, September 23rd  
  1. You can make payments online at www.myschoolfees.com.  Cost per student is $173.00.  Here is a link to the Camp McDowell letter  HERE. We MUST have at least 2 Moms and 2 Dads, per class, in order to attend this field trip.  This is for the safety of your children. Please let your homeroom teacher know if you interested and available to chaperone this field trip!   Chaperone cost is $75.00.  We can take 2 moms and 2 dads per homeroom class at $75.00 per person.  All other chaperones will need to pay $150.00 (what McDowell charges).  All payments due by September 16.  Payment plan:  $50 was due by 8/31; $60 by 9/9; $63 by 9/16.
  2. Rules for medications at Camp McDowell.  
    • All over the counter medications have to have a parent signature on the BGIS Parent Provider form (ALL CAMP MCDOWELL FORMS WILL BE COMING HOME TODAY, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6).  Medication needs to be in a sealeD, new container. 
    • ALL RX meds must have the MD signature on the parent provider form along with the parent signature
    • All medications have to be brought to school the morning of camp and given to the BGIS school nurse.  Put the medications in a Ziploc bag along with the parent/provider form and put your child's name and homeroom teacher's name on the outside of it. 
    •  Only an adult can bring the medication to the nurse.
    • You will need a Parent Provider form completed for BGIS.  There are separate Camp McDowell health forms.  The med authorization comes to BGIS Nurse Tyra Walker and the Camp McDowell health forms will be given to each student’s teacher. prior to the trip.
    NO MEDICATIONS are sent to camp from the health room.
  • September 16th is our hearing and vision screening day. This screening is for all 5th grade students. If your child wears glasses, please make sure they have them on this day.
