  • SHOES FOR SUGARBELLE FOUNDATION - Our Earth Savers Science Club (ESC) is collecting new or gently worn shoes in the lobby each day throughout the month of October. ESC would love to beat our goal from last year.....300 pairs! Sugarbelle Foundation is a registered 501-c3, whose mission is to keep pets and people together. We accomplish this by providing financial assistance, to the best of our ability, to pet owners and Good Samaritans who have an animal in need, temporary fosters homes, food, and any other necessary items for pets and their people. All donated shoes are redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of microenterprise partners in developing nations.  Funds2Orgs helps impoverished people start, maintain and grow businesses in countries such as Haiti, Honduras and other nations in Central America and Africa. Proceeds from the shoe sales are in turn to feed, clothe and house their families. Funds2Org believes the HAND UP is more beneficial than the HAND OUT, because it teaches people how to be self sufficient, which is also, what Sugarbelle Foundation strives to do when helping pets and their families.
  • This year, Brock’s Gap is hosting our Veterans Day Program on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 8:45 A.M.  All family members and friends of Brock’s Gap students, whohave served or are currently serving our country, are invited.  If you will be able to attend, please fill out the Google Form  HERE.  If you currently have a parent serving out of state or overseas, you are welcome to invite someone to stand in their place. Please have your student return the completed form to his/her homeroom teacher. Also, as part of our Veterans Day Program, we are planning to have a slide show including pictures of family members and friends of Brock’s Gap students who are serving or have served in the U.S. military.  Whether or not you would be able to attend the program, we would love to include your picture of military family and friends.  Please send your digital pictures to Christie Willis by Friday, November 4, 2016.  You can email your pictures to chwillis@hoover.k12.al.us.  If you have older pictures that are not in a digital format, you may bring those to Christie Willis, the Technology Teacher-Room 113, in a zip-locked bag with the necessary information:  the student’s name, their homeroom teacher, grade, and the relative’s name in the picture and what branch of military they have served/are serving.  Pictures will be scanned and returned back to the appropriate student in a timely manner.
  • POP TABS FOR RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE BGIS is collecting pop-tabs to help support The Ronald McDonald House. This charity service offers a place of comfort and support for families out of town while their children receive medical treatment at hospitals around the United States. By donating the small pop tabs on the top of your soda or your favorite canned drink, we can show our support in a small way.
  • DRESS CODE REMINDER- Please remember students may not wear leggings with t-shirts.  In addition, please note that shorts must be beyond the tip of your middle finger when arms are outstretched.  Thank you for your help with this! Any student out of dress code will have to call home for a change of clothes.  Thank you!
  • The BGIS BOOK FAIR will be the week of October 31-November 4. There will be lots of great books for every student. Visit our book fair and purchase some great books while helping support our school library. Also, if any parent would like to volunteer to help with our book fair, please contact our media specialist, Mrs Stewart at 439-1642 or email her at rstewart@hoover.k12.al.us.
